Have you found that it has been really difficult to forgive those who have been mean to you, done you wrong, or hurt you in some way? Do you feel some type of way every time you see them? Are you secretly carrying hatred for them in your heart? These feelings are normal. It is normal to feel hurt, angry, or even mad when we feel some action or words aimed in our direction, came down unjustly. However, the feeling being normal does not mean that we should wallow in these feelings. Mark 11:25 says, “And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” It is important to note that the only way God will forgive us of our sins, transgressions, and mistakes is that we forgive others who has done us wrong. It wouldn’t be fair of us to ask God to forgive us and we not forgive others. Matthew 6:25 says, “But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” We know that we mess up every day all day so we definitely can’t afford to not be forgiven by God for our wrong doing. So because we can’t afford not to be forgiven, then we also can’t afford to not forgive.
Forgiveness not only allows you to receive forgiveness from God, but it also releases you from being controlled by your emotions. Think about the time and energy it takes to hold a grudge or hatred in your heart for someone else? That is too much energy used when that energy could go towards showing God’s love to someone who hasn’t always experienced love from people. We should practice forgiving others so much so that it becomes second nature. So much so, that the enemy can never use offense to push us to a place of unforgiveness. Our hearts should be so forgiving that it operates like the air we breathe. Constant and consistent. Once we reach that place, we will experiencing another level of love for people and for God.
If you need help in this area and you want to release the hurt, release the grudge, and be free both in your mind and your heart, then pray this prayer with me.
Father God
I come to you right now
Asking for forgiveness of my sins, known and unknown
Sins of omission and commission
My eyes are open to the unforgiveness in my heart
I’m hurt and upset but I no longer want this grudge to keep me from experiencing all of you
I rebuke the spirit of unforgiveness right now in the name of Jesus
I speak freedom to my mind, freedom to my spirit, and a healing of my heart
I am free and walking in the complete and perfect love of Christ
I will be the light God has called me to be and no evil spirit will dim my light
I will love as Christ has love, and forgive as God has forgave
I pray this prayer and call it done in the name of Jesus
It is so
Amen!
If you’ve prayed this prayer with me, be reminded that God works with faith. So you have to believe that your prayer will come to pass in the name of Jesus. He makes all things possible. The Word of God tells us that we can ask Him for whatever we will in Jesus name and it will be so. So in Jesus name we’ve asked and we believe.
Until next time my loves, be blessed
